September Glossybox

This is the second month of my Glossybox subscription and I found this month’s box even more impressive than the last. It came with a great selection of deluxe samples that I will actually use and a full sized NYX palette ($25 value!)
You can sign up for Glossybox here if you are interested, and save $1.50 on your first box with the code GLOSSY8.

I’m in Nail Polish Canada’s Weekly Newsletter!!!!

To my excitement, my 3D Shadow nail look was featured in this week’s newsletter from Nail Polish Canada. This company is an online retailer that sells professional polish brands like China Glaze, Zoya (my favourite!), OPI, Orly, Essie, and more. Although “Canada” is in the store’s name, nailpolishcanada.com ships to the USA as well.

Aside from the amazing customer service, the company offers free shipping on Canadian orders over $29 and US orders over $50. I have been ordering from them for quite a while and have never been disappointed.

Here is a link to my nail look in the newsletter: http://www.nailpolishcanada.com/swatch/

Don’t forget to check out the other amazing designs!

September Topbox

This is the second month in a row that Topbox has impressed me. All four samples fit into the “deluxe” category, and one of the products was a 30ml bottle of an expensive fragrance!
After receiving last month’s box, I was sent an email from Topbox indicating that, in the upcoming Fall months, its subscribers could expect to receive at least one makeup sample in each Topbox. The company remained true to its word as this month’s box contained a sample of a popular high end mascara that I have been wanting to try for some time.
For those of you who do not know what Topbox is, it is a service similar to Loose Button, Glymm, Birchbox, Glossybox, etc., which offers monthly boxes of deluxe size product samples. Topbox currently offers its services across Canada for $10 per month with no shipping costs. For more information check out topbox.ca

China Glaze Real Nail Polish Strips: Review & Demo

How pretty is the pattern on my new China Glaze Real Nail Polish Strips? The royal blue background and dainty white floral overlay makes for a very elegant nail design that reminds me of the beautiful patterns featured on expensive dishes.
These strips are from nailpolishcanada.com. Beyond Baroque is the pattern that I tried, and you can find it by clicking HERE. The company also carries many other designs that you can check out HERE.
Please note that nailpolishcanada.com ships to the USA as well. For most products, the company offers free shipping on Canadian orders over $29 and US orders over $50; however, these strips ship for free with no minimum order amount!
The product comes with 16 strips, a nail file, a wooden stick, and a pamphlet with step by step instructions for application. I found the strips very easy to apply, and they remained in good shape for a full seven days.

I like the shiny finish on the strips and the way they make your nails appear as though you just had a professional manicure. Another bonus is that you don’t have to wait for your nails to dry after applying them; hence, there is no risk of smudges.
At only $11 per package, these strips are perfect for those of you who want the luxury of a professional manicure in the privacy of your own home for less than half the cost of a salon visit. The application process is also less time consuming than painting your nails with a regular nail polish, and it eliminates the harsh fumes that often waft out of nail polish bottles and spread toxins through the air that humans and animals can breathe in.
I have more photos below of the final look
Hope you enjoy!

*Although the company sent me these strips to try out and write a review on, all opinions are honest and are my own*

3-D Shadow Nail Look (Phillip Lim Inspired)

While flipping through the September 2012 issue of Glamour magazine, I came across an article on nail looks featured at Fashion Week 2012. My eyes were immediately drawn to the 3-D shadow nail look worn by models at the 3.1 Phillip Lim show. The design’s mod feel and bold shades (white, grey, black) inspired me to recreate the look using my favourite purple polishes.

Check out my video to see how I created the look and which products I used. I also have lots of close up photos below.

What do you think of this look? Is it only runway appropriate or would you feel comfortable wearing it elsewhere?

August Glossybox

After much disappointment with Glymm, I recently went on the search for a new deluxe sample subscription box. Many of my readers and YouTube subscribers recommended Glossybox. At $15 per month it is a bit more expensive than some of the other services; however, based on my experiences with my first box, the quality is also better.
Despite the $15 cost, I received a discount on my first box using this code that I found online: GLOSSY8. With the coupon, I paid closer to $13.

Aside from Glossybox’s beautiful packaging (as shown in the photo above), the company has an advantage over competitors because it offers its services in more than one country. In my first box I received samples that were truly “deluxe”, and, in my opinion, worth the $15.  I also received two full size lipsticks!
