Vanilla Mint Poo-Pourri Review

Vanilla Mint Poo Pourri review 1

No, that beautiful bottle in the photo above does not contain a designer fragrance, a luxurious body lotion, or a professional hair elixir, but after reading this post you may consider it your next must-have product.

DKNY Be Delicious Heart Coffret (first impressions)

For some reason, I’m always in the mood to try a new fragrance around this time of year. I have had my eye on the DKNY Be Delicious products for quite a while, so I was so excited when I saw the Heart Coffret set on the Sephora website. Unfortunately I can no longer find this set on the site but wanted to share it with you in case it is still available in Sephora stores or sold elsewhere.

This set comes with four mini Be Delicious scents (each bottle contains 7ml / 0.24 FL. OZ) and a cute travel bag. I think that the minis are the perfect size to try and the bottles look nice on my vanity tray.

I have worn each fragrance once and love them all. I am a huge fan of sweet, fruity scents, but avoid anything too heavy or musky. These scents are light but long lasting, and each is unique.

Since I’m not great at describing scents, I will list the notes for each one.

1. DKNY Be Delicious NYC (yellow green): Green Apple, Cucumber, Grapefruit, Magnolia, Tuberose, Muguet, Sandalwood, Blondewood, Amber, Tender Skin Accord.

2. DKNY Be Delicious Paris (blue): Sparkling Mandarin, Italian Bergamot, Gala Apple, Violet, Jasmine, Rose, Golden Amber, Vanilla Orchid, Patchouli Heart, Vetiver, Woods.

3. DKNY Be Delicious London (pink): Blackcurrant Buds, Spring Hyacinth, Neroli, Apple, Rose Essence, Honeysuckle, Orange Flower, White Woods, Amber, Vetiver.

4. DKNY Be Delicious Rio (light green): Maracuja Fruit, Pink Lady Apple, Clementine, Orange Flower, Orris, Gardenia, Myrhh, Amber, Sandalwood, Benzoin.

As you can see from the notes above, each fragrance in this set is filled with delicious fruity notes that are prefect year round.

In my opinion, the only downside to this set is that the little bottles don’t spray. I did not realize this before purchasing the set. Since I can be a bit clumsy, I have to be very careful when opening the bottles so that I don’t drop or spill them.

Otherwise, I am very happy with this set and recommend it to anyone that has been wanting to try this fragrance line.

Have you tried this set? Which DKNY fragrance is your favourite?

Britney Spears Fantasy Fragrance

Recently, my mom gave me a bottle of Britney Spears Fantasy Perfume as a gift. I have had the other three perfumes from the Fantasy line for a while but not the original…until now of course.
The bottle may look large in this photo but it is actually only 15ml. It is so tiny and looks very cute on my perfume tray next to the bigger ones.

It has the same gorgeous bottle style as the other Fantasy fragrances. The background is a medium pink colour and the jewels are a light green. The colour combination makes me think of Strawberry-Kiwi and reminds me of summer.

Unlike the larger sized bottles, this perfume does not have a spray nozzle. Once the lid is removed there is a small opening at the top of the bottle. With my finger placed securely over the opening, I tip the bottle slightly and dab a bit of perfume onto my wrist, neck, etc. Some may view this applicator as a downside but I don’t mind it. I actually like how I can control the amount of perfume that I want to apply. In the long run it will be less wasteful.

At $10 for 15ml it does seem a bit expensive since in the past I have purchased 50ml bottles of the other Fantasy fragrances on sale for less than $20. However, I think of the tiny bottle as a collectible so the price is not a huge deal. I do hope to get a full-sized version some day as well.
Now onto the scent. It’s perfect for someone like me who enjoys very sweet scents like Aquolina’s Pink Sugar (I will probably do a scent comparison post about Fantasy and Pink Sugar in the near future).  This fragrance includes notes of red lychee, golden quince, exotic kiwi, cupcake accord, jasmine petals, white chocolate orchid, creamy musk, enchanted orris root, and sensual woods.
The scent is pleasant and probably the sweetest smelling fragrance in the Fantasy line. For me it falls into the same category as Circus Fantasy—energetic, fun, girly, and youthful without being juvenile.
Be careful not to apply too much of the fragrance as it can easily turn from delicious to sickeningly sweet. One or two spritzes (or dabs in the case of this mini bottle) are more than enough.
As far as I know, Fantasy is still in production and is very easy to find. I have seen it at Sears, the Bay, Shoppers Drug Mart, Rexall, Wal-Mart, and many other stores and online retailers. Britney Spears Circus Fantasy Fragrance

I bought my 50ml bottle of Circus Fantasy for $19.99 at Shoppers Drug Mart during the Winter Holidays.

Unlike Midnight Fantasy and Hidden Fantasy, the bottle for Circus Fantasy is more opaque and metallic. The box that it comes in has a more cartoon-like pattern and does not have a mirror-like finish like the boxes for the other two perfumes do.

This fragrance is sweet like the others in the Fantasy line but it is also a bit sour…in a good way. Notes include Sugar Coated Raspberry, Apricot Blossom, Blue Peony, Waterlily, Red Sweetheart Orchid, Sweet Vanilla Wood, Creamy Musk, and Violet Candy. Sounds delicious, right?

The smell is sweet but not overly sweet because of the sour raspberry scent that appears first. After a few hours of wear it gets sweeter and the apricot notes begin to surface. In my opinion, it’s a wonderful collaboration of juicy fruits and candy.

I have found that this fragrance lasts for quite a long time and only a spritz or two is necessary.

This fragrance can be found at some Shoppers Drug Mart stores, TjMaxx, Sears, and also at: http://shop.elizabetharden.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3749833&cp=2879146.3765448&utm_source=BritneySpearsBeauty&utm_campaign=Circus&utm_medium=BuyIt&parentPage=family

Britney Spears Hidden Fantasy

I purchased my bottle of Hidden Fantasy at the same time that I bought my bottle of Midnight Fantasy which I have a review of here: http://putbeautytowords.blogspot.com/2011/02/my-new-favourite-winter-fragrance.html

I paid $19.99 for this 50 ml bottle of Hidden Fantasy—a great deal since its original price is around $60!

Like the other perfumes in the Fantasy line, Hidden Fantasy is sweet smelling and very girly. However, I find that this scent is a bit more sophisticated because it has more of a clean fruity sweetness rather than a heavy sugary one.

The colour of the bottle and the designs on the box seem a bit misleading. The red shades and cherry images have the potential to lead those unfamiliar with the fragrance to believe that it is cherry scented which is not the case at all. There is no cherry in this fragrance. Instead, the notes include Sweet Orange, Tangerine, Grapefruit Blossoms, French Flowering Verbena, Stargazer Lily, Sambac Jasmine, Clove, Mexican Vanilla Bean, Jacaranda Wood, Sandalwood, and Amber.

I have heard some people describe the scent as an orange spice tea and others as an orange creamsicle. In my opinion this fragrance smells like a sophisticated version of an orange creamsicle. It’s a bit spicy but also very creamy and fruity. Normally I take little interest in citrus scents but this one is lighter and in no way sour. It is perfect for winter and may seem out of place in the summer due to its warmth.

Out of all the fragrances in the Fantasy line I have found that this one has the least amount of staying power. It lasts for about 4 hours on me. That said, I really do like the scent and definitely would repurchase it.

Britney Spears Midnight Fantasy Fragrance

During the winter holidays I went on the search for a new fragrance. For years I have worn Aquolina’s Pink Sugar perfume year round and, although I love the scent, I wanted to try something new. I enjoy sweet, fruity, vanilla-based scents but was open to something new as well. I tried everything –Vera Wang Princess, all of the Juicy Couture perfumes, Givenchy Play, Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue, Beyonce Heat, Marc Jacobs Daisy, Nina Ricci Nina, and everything in between. I wanted to give each fragrance a fair chance so I collected samples of them and decided to wear each one for a few days. I found the majority of these fragrances intolerable and could not even get through one day wearing them. I really wanted to like Vera Wang Princess because I thought that the bottle was pretty but the fragrance left the horrible scent of baby powder on my skin. The other notes in this fragrance were undetectable.

Just when I decided to give up on my search, I noticed a fragrance sale rack at my drugstore that featured a few of the Britney Spears Perfumes. I purchased 50ml bottles of Hidden Fantasy, Circus Fantasy, and Midnight Fantasy for under $20 each which was a great deal. I love all of them (and will talk about the other two in a future post) but quickly decided that Midnight Fantasy was my new favourite winter fragrance. It is sweet and powerful and only requires a spritz or two. It actually smells a bit like candy necklaces. The scent lasts all day and all night and does not need to be reapplied after a few hours. Its notes include: Black Cherries, Framboise, Exotic Plum, Night Blooming Orchid, Freesia, Velvet Iris, Musk, Amber and Vanilla.  The translucent blue bottle is also very elegant. The only downside to this fragrance is that, out of the four perfumes from the Britney Spears Fantasy line, Midnight Fantasy is the only one no longer in production. However, for now it can be found at some Shoppers Drug Mart stores, TjMaxx, Sears, and also at: http://shop.elizabetharden.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4426626&cp=2879146.3378829&parentPage=family

Let me know which fragrance from the Fantasy line is your favourite.
