May 2017 Julep Maven Customized Box

Julep Maven May 2017 Review

I know it’s a bit late to be reviewing a May 2017 subscription box, but a busy summer and an even busier start to fall kept me from sharing a few exciting spring/summer releases. Now that I’m on a consistent schedule, more posts are on their way.

Since 2014, I have been subscribed to Julep Maven, which is a monthly nail polish subscription service that also offers makeup and skincare products. The best part is that you have multiple options for your monthly box: receive it as is, customize it, or skip it. If you are interested in Julep, you can learn more or sign up HERE. Even if a monthly subscription is not your style, Julep also sells its products individually, and standard shipping is always free!

To keep my beauty collection under control, I often skip months until I come across a must-have product. In May, I opted in because one of the foot care products really sparked my interest. I decided to customize my box to receive this item and a couple unique polishes. Read on to see what I received and to find out why I’m saving these items for winter.

Julep Maven May 2017 Review Liesl and Jennye

When it comes to nail polish, my collection is much larger than it should be, so I only purchase new polishes if they are different from anything else I have. In May, I added complementary purple and blue shades to my box.

First is Jennye. Julep describes this polish as a powder blue sheer holographic; however, it’s more of a pastel grey-purple than blue. It has a cream finish that’s illuminated by a spray of iridescent holographic flecks. I have not come across another polish like this, and I think it will be a beautiful colour for winter since it reminds me of the way snow glistens when the sun hits it.

I also picked up Liesl, a pastel blue creme. On the site it looks a bit more mint green than blue, but I think blue will work better with my cool skin tone than green. I have lots of pink and purple polishes, so I thought it was time to add something different. This could be a great shade for creating a winter snowflake manicure.

If you have never tried Julep polishes, they are all 5-free and vegan friendly!

Julep Maven May 2017 Mint Condition Pedi Creme

The Mint Condition Pedi Creme is the product that motivated me to order the May box. Although I ordered this product right before summer began, I always had winter in mind. I like to treat myself to salon pedicures in the summer and take care of my own feet during winter when I go polish-free for a few months. Considering this, I like to stock up on products to keep my feet soft, smooth, and in good condition during those dry winter months. This cucumber mint foot lotion hydrates with shea butter, coconut oil, essential oils, and vitamin E. It has a refreshing sweet peppermint scent that reminds me of candy canes and a balmy texture that is hydrating without being too greasy. In addition, it exfoliates with Alpha Hydroxy Acid to keep feet extra smooth. I will be using this on my hands, knees, and elbows too.

All three products from the May box are still available to the Julep site. Which one is your favourite?
