My Favourite Blushes for Winter 2016

Favourite blushes winter 2016

For me, blush is a daily necessity...especially during the winter months. This winter, I have been getting lots of use out of four specific blushes from my collection. While they differ in terms of shade, finish, and formula, they all complement my pale skin beautifully and are versatile enough to work with a range of different skin tones.

Benefit rockateur
Benefit Rockateur - This rose gold blush adds a beautiful glow to the skin without any obvious
glitter or shimmer. While it appears very pink in the box, it looks quite neutral on the cheeks and provides a very natural flush. I love wearing this on days where I want my skin to look flawless and dewy. It also complements any lip or eyeshadow shade, so it’s an easy choice for those days when I can’t decide which blush to wear.

Tarte natural beauty blush
Tarte Natural Beauty Amazonian Clay Blush - The majority of the blushes that I own are from the Tarte Amazonian Clay line. I love the wide range of colours, the staying power, and the smooth application of these blushes. Since I don’t wear foundation, I’m always on the search for new blushes that apply seamlessly on bare skin. Natural Beauty is one of the newest additions to my collection. I decided to purchase it because I heard that it works well with a red lip. It’s a beautiful strawberry shade that’s very pigmented; a little really does go a long way. While it appears shimmery in the photo above, it looks mostly matte on the skin and provides a rosy flush that looks amazing with red lips and neutral eyes.

MAC subtle breeze blush naturally collection
MAC Subtle Breeze Mineralize Blush - This blush came out with MAC’s Naturally Collection back in winter 2011. I was instantly drawn to this shade since was described as a “blue-pink”. I tend to gravitate toward shades like that since they really complement cool-toned complexions like mine. I really like this blush because the colour that it adds to my cheeks is completely natural and looks as though I’m not wearing any obvious makeup. It’s nice for winter because it works well with many different makeup looks and doesn’t appear too bright or shimmery.

Benefit lolli tint
Benefit Lollitint - This orchid lip and cheek stain is a great shade for winter because it provides a pop of pink that’s colourful yet muted enough to complement cloudy days. It also gives my cheeks that just in from the cold look that’s very appropriate for winter. It’s very easy to apply and can work well as a base for other blushes. I use it on my lips as well because it’s not sticky, so my hair won’t cling to it in the wind. Most days I can get ready in two minutes by adding a dab of this to my lips and cheeks and curling my eyelashes. It makes me look put together with just one product.
