April 2017 Beauty Box 5 (BB5)

The April 2017 Beauty Box 5 (BB5)* features gold inspired products to keep us glowing through spring and summer with its Stay Golden / You’re Golden theme.

BB5 is a subscription service that sends its members five cosmetic samples each month. Boxes, which are always worth at least $35, include mostly full size products with occasional deluxe samples. Subscriptions start at $12 per month and shipping is free to the US or $3 to Canada.

Now let’s talk about the April items.



1. Be a Bombshell Blush | Retail: $6 (full size) - This versatile product can be used as a blush, bronzer, or highlighter. I received the shade Tanorexic which is a medium bronze colour. On my pale skin, I think it works best as a bronzer and is a great product to add a natural-looking tan without the sun exposure.

2. BB5 Highlight Fan Brush | Retail: $12 (full size) - This fan brush from BB5’s own line of brushes can be used to dust shimmer along the high points of the face or create a diffused look with blush or bronzer. I don’t have a brush like this in my collection already, so I’m very excited to try this one.



3. Jean Pierre Vitamin-C Sheet Mask | Retail: $12.99 for a set of 5 (deluxe sample) - It’s been months (close to 8 to be exact) since I have had time to go to the salon for a facial, so this mask arrived at the perfect time. It’s brightening, hydrating, and contains Vitamin C to lighten dark spots. I look forward to taking 15 minutes to myself to relax and treat my skin.



4. Did Hair Gold Bobby Pins | Retail: $8.50 (full size) - Normally I prefer silver-tone accessories, but these gold bobby pins look great with my hair’s summer highlights. The gold colour makes these hair accessories wearable for every day, but also a nice complement to a formal outfit and a fancy event. They also have a really strong grip which is helpful for holding onto thin hair like mine.

5. Sweep Rose Gold Lash Curler | Retail : $15.99 (full size) - How beautiful is this shiny rose gold lash curler? I love that BB5 has been including rose gold beauty tools from Sweep in its boxes over the past year. So far, I have received tweezers, a mirror, and now this lash curler that creates a natural looking curl without pinching or discomfort. It’s nice to be able to look forward to adding a new matching item to my collection every few months.

Overall, the April 2017 BB5 is very impressive. Instead of an eye or lip theme this month, the box items all have the colour gold in common. I like the idea of varying the type of theme that we see each month, and the gold items are a nice touch for spring. The products also have a combined value of $45+ which is more than the cost of three boxes.

I’m excited to see what BB5 has in store for summer.
