Sally Hansen Real Nail Polish Strips in Pink-A-Dot (Review + Photos)

A couple years ago, I made a haul post featuring these nail strips from Sally Hansen. In the post I showed another set of nail strips called Are You Single? which I wore on Valentine’s Day and really enjoyed.

A couple weeks ago, I remembered that I had this set in Pink-A-Dot and decided to use it for an effortless and cute summer nail look.

Like Are you Single?, the Pink-A-Dot strips were very easy to apply. I only encountered a bit of difficulty with trying to find the perfect size strip to fit my nail. I have very small nails and a lot of the strips were just a tiny bit too big so I had to trim them with scissors. They were easy to cut though and I did not ruin any strips during trimming process. The best part is that there was no drying time so I was able to get on with my day immediately after application. They have a faint nail polish smell, but it did not linger like the strong scent of traditional liquid nail polish does.

The pattern is very cute with its creamy background and pink polka dots. The finish is glossy but the polka dots have a faded look to them that gives the strips a fabric-like dimension which I really like.

The only downside is the staying power. While the last set of strips stuck to my nails really well and lasted for two weeks, these strips did not. After about 5 days, they began lifting near the cuticles and I had to remove them because they kept getting caught in my hair while I was blow drying it. They were at least two years old though so the glue may have been getting weak. The strips removed easily with regular nail polish remover.

Overall, I really enjoyed the easy application and cute pattern of this product. I would definitely purchase more if I find them on sale because these strips can be a bit pricey where I live.

Have you tried these nail strips from Sally Hansen? If so, what are your thoughts on them?

Today’s Beauty Purchases: Essie Tart Deco and Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail Polish Strips

Every week I go to the Superstore to replenish the household groceries…and sometimes pick up some sushi for dinner. Before going into the Superstore, I stop in Winners which is right next door. If you are unfamiliar with Winners, it is basically the Canadian version of T.J. Maxx (huge discounts on designer beauty products, clothing, shoes, home decor, etc.). My reason for visiting Winners each week is to find a large mirrored tray to store my perfume bottles. I have been on the search for the perfect tray for over a year now. I even tried purchasing one on Etsy but it somehow got lost in the mail on its way here.
Not to my surprise, this week, like every week, Winners only had mirrored trays featuring animal print patterns which are just not my style. As I wandered towards the door in disappointment, the beauty section caught my eye—something was new! For months I have only seen Color Club polishes and lots of OPI crackle polishes but today there were lots of little boxes of the Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail Polish Strips. I have always been hesitant to try this product because the strips are said to last 10 days and I like changing my polish more often than that. However, the main reason why I have not tried them is because they retail for around $11 here—that’s as much as a bottle of Essie polish!
When I looked at the price tag it said $4.99 which is an amazing deal. Most of the designs were Valentine’s Day themed (lots of hearts, xoxo patterns, and “love” stamps). I chose two that weren't too holiday-ish and that could be worn during the summer. Are You Single? is the first one that caught my eye. It’s metallic with beige, purple, and medium pink leaf details that look like hearts. I also liked the pattern of Pink-A-Dot which is as the name describes it with light pink polka dots.
Are You Single?, Pink-A-Dot, and Tart Deco
After paying for the nail strips, I happily left Winners and entered the Superstore. On my way to the sushi stand, I saw an Essie display with a huge sign saying that select Essie polishes (not including the glitters) were on sale for $7.49. This is very inexpensive considering that the drugstore that I usually shop at sells them for close to $12. I scanned the display and found Tart Deco, a colour that I have been wanting for a really long time. Near the Essie display was a shelf filled with the Sally Hansen nail strips that were being sold for $10.99. Glad that I found mine for less than half the price!
Before finally making my way to the sushi, I went to check out the Joe Fresh Beauty display because lately I have been loving my peach lip stain from this brand and wanted to pick up a few more colours. Sadly, they didn’t seem to have any left, nor was there a spot for them on the display. Have then been discontinued? I hope not.
Overall, I think that my day of shopping was a success. After all, I did not plan on purchasing any beauty products but found some great deals.
Please let me know if you would like to see reviews or nail of the day (NOTD) posts on these products.
