January 2018 CatLadyBox Review

January 2018 Cat Lady Box Review 1

Happy Caturday! Today I have a special post for all the cats and cat lovers out there.

One of my most important roles is cat mom, and I have no problem admitting that I’m a crazy cat lady. If it weren’t for Mr. Writing Beauty’s allergies, I would like to think that we would have more than two cats.

I'm sure that you can imagine how excited I was when I found out that there’s a subscription box for cat lovers.

CatLadyBox sends its members a monthly selection of unique and high-quality cat-themed items such as clothing, jewellery, home decor, and cat toys that you can’t find anywhere else. There is a CatLadyBox option that includes 3 items for cat ladies and a CRAZY CatLadyBox that sends 3 items for cat ladies and 2 additional goodies for cats. Boxes start at $34.99 per month and feature exclusive designs and limited-edition items.

Other great features of this subscription include a gift option (I don’t know any cat ladies who wouldn’t be excited to receive a CatLadyBox as a gift), the opportunity to purchase individual items from past boxes in the CatLadyBox Shop (they currently have a cat makeup brush set!), and the CatLadyBox Cares program which allows you to nominate your favourite rescue organization for a donation. Each week, CatLadyBox chooses one to receive a monetary donation and a box of CatLadyBox toys for their kitties to enjoy while awaiting their forever homes. My cats are both rescues, so I really appreciate companies that give back to animals in need and organizations that work hard to save animals and provide them with food and shelter.

CatLadyBox also supports independent artists and small businesses by including items in the monthly boxes from art galleries, boutique shops, craft festivals, and independent artist sites.

My cats and I were lucky enough to try the January 2018 CRAZY CatLadyBox*. Read on for our thoughts and to see what we received.

The box arrived nicely packaged and with a card that describes each product. The card's cute cat snow angel design is by Krista Smith, an artist from Queen Creek, Arizona. You can see more of her work at https://www.etsy.com/shop/kristaartstudio and use the code KITTY15 for 15% off your order.

Here’s a look inside the box. I love the purple theme this month.

January 2018 Cat Lady Box Review 7

Fantastic Cat Hoodie (exclusive by CatLadyBox, retail: $39.99) - I was very excited to see a hoodie in this month’s box. I basically live in hoodies, and I somehow don’t have any others with cat designs on them. Purple is one of my favourite colours, and the size small fits me well. You get to select your clothing size before ordering a subscription, so sizing is not an issue. This hoodie is super soft, and the sleeves don’t get stretched out in the elbows with wear. It’s also machine washable and won’t shrink.

Cat-Shaped Mug (exclusive by CatLadyBox, retail: $11.99) - I love how this mug has a cute cat design without looking childish or tacky. The delicate ears around the rim and the tail-like handle create an elegant cat shape, and the fact that it’s white allows it to fit in with any set of dishes that you already own. Those who want to pick up a few more of these to make a set can do so from the CatLadyBox Shop. I will be keeping these mugs in mind as a housewarming gift for my cat lady friends.

Kitty Cat Pen Set (special for CatLadyBox, retail: $5.99) - This adorable set of cat pens will add a fun touch to my desk. I really like the clean, white casing, the pen caps with paws, and all the little details such as the cat’s wispy eyelashes. The pen tips are very fine which is helpful for a messy writer like me. The ink in all three pens is black.

Simon the Snowball (exclusive for CatLadyBox, retail: $3.99) - I love decorating my house for each season, and that includes seasonally-themed pet toys since they are always on the floor. This snowball toy fits in perfectly with my winter decor. It’s soft and fluffy and filled with North American grown catnip. My two cats have very different personalities, so one loves catnip and the other is indifferent when it comes to catnip toys. The catnip lover pulled this toy out of the box before I could finish opening it and has been playing with it daily. Even our dog has been trying to get his paws on this one since it’s fun to toss around.

Snowflake Felt Wand Cat Toy (exclusive by CatLadyBox, retail: $4.99) - My other cat loves to chase strings and ribbons, so she claimed this toy for herself. We play with this until I get tired since she never wants to stop. I really appreciate that it’s free of feathers because she usually pulls the feathers off wand toys and tries to eat them. With this toy, I don’t have to worry about that happening. It’s also well constructed and has not broken after a week of use even though my cat has been quite rough with it.

Overall, I’m very impressed with the January CatLadyBox. My cats and I love and will use every item in the box. It’s exciting to receive unique items that I can’t just go to the store and buy, and the products for me are cat-themed but still classy and adult-appropriate. The box is also a great value as the items combined retail for approximately $67 which more than covers the monthly subscription cost.

I highly recommend CatLadyBox for any cat lovers or as an easy yet thoughtful gift idea for your cat-loving friends. I already sent one to my sister-in-law as a new cat mom gift!
