April 2016 Julep Maven Customized Box

April 2016 Julep Maven Box 1

Since 2014, I have been subscribed to Julep Maven which is a monthly nail polish subscription service that also incorporates beauty and skincare items. The best part is that you can opt for a curated box, customize your box, or skip your box each month depending on your preference. When you begin with Julep, you take a quiz so that Julep can suggest a box with items you may like. If you don’t like what’s offered in your category, you can choose another. If you are interested, you can sign up for Julep HERE. Even if you’re not interested in the monthly subscription, Julep also sells individual polishes and other products. Shipping is always free!

Since I have quite a few polishes in my collection, I don’t receive boxes every month and will often skip boxes until one is offering a must-have item. In fact, the last box I received before this month was back in February 2015 (click HERE to see my review of that box). This April, I opted in for my box since Julep was including a free white polish with each box. Although I have lots of polishes, I don’t have many that are white and it’s always helpful to have a good white polish on hand for nail designs or french manicures. I also decided to customize my April box to get some products that I had been wanting to try for a while.

Read on to see what I received.

The first item, Brilliance Glycolic Hand & Body Scrub, is my new favourite product. I made a promise to myself that this summer I would take good care of the skin on my body. This means exfoliating and moisturizing daily. Normally, I exfoliate my arms and legs in the shower with a bit of granulated sugar. It works fairly well but it is quite rough and can irritate my sensitive skin, so I decided to try this scrub from Julep. It’s formulated with apricot seeds and glycolic acid to brighten and smooth skin. I have been using it almost daily for a few weeks and haven't experienced any irritation. I apply it in the shower and let it sit on my skin for a few minutes before rinsing. It leaves my skin feeling soft and silky to the point where I don’t need to shave my legs less often because my skin looks and feels so smooth. I will definitely be repurchasing this.

The next item is the Take a Breather Oxygen Nail Treatment in Sheer Pink. With all the spring cleaning and baking I’ve been doing, my nails haven’t been looking their best, so I thought it was the perfect time to try this treatment. It’s a strengthener that lets nails breath while infusing them with anti-aging plant cells and a protective UV filter. I haven’t tried it yet but will write a more detailed post on it in the future.

In April, Julep introduced aline of Vivid Sheer polishes which feature breakthrough oxygen technology that minimizes drying time and provides long-lasting colour. Although the colour that I chose appears as black in the bottle (and in the photo above), it’s actually a sheer berry colour called Marissa that Julep describes as an electric clover flower shade. I will include a review and swatches of this colour in a future NOTD post.

The last item is Brigitte, a little extra that was included in April boxes. This polish is a bright white creme shade. Like all Julep polishes, Brigitte has a 5-free, vegan-friendly formula.

Overall, I’m so happy that I opted in for the Julep Maven April 2016 box. As a member, I paid only $19.99 for the box. To purchase the products individually, it would have cost almost $60, so I feel as though I got a great deal. I’m looking forward to seeing what Julep has in store for May. What are your thoughts on the April box?
