Review: Sigma Beauty Nightlife by Camila Coelho Brush Set - Glitter Handles
This month, I had the wonderful opportunity to review a new product from Sigma Beauty, the Nightlife by Camila Coelho Brush Set with Glitter Handles*. If you have been reading my blog for a while, you know that Sigma brushes and I go way back. In fact, my first large brush purchase was the Sigma Mr. Bunny Essential Brush Kit (see my post on it HERE). I purchased it back in 2012 and have used it every day since. The brushes are so well crafted that they can last for years if they’re well taken care of.
The Nightlife Brush Set contains five of Sigma’s best-selling brushes (two face brushes and 3 eye brushes) that feature limited edition sparkle handles inspired by the city lights from New York to Rio de Janeiro.
Let’s take a look at this dazzling brush set...
First, the set arrived in a well packaged box with a nice note from Sigma. Over the years I have ordered many products from Sigma and the items are always packaged with care.
The brushes come in a black box that’s decorated with fine blue and sliver glitters that give it a textured feel and appearance. The brush handles are also adorned with glitter, but they feel smooth rather than textured.
Each brush handle features the Nightlife logo in silver holographic paint on one side.
The other side includes the name and number of the brush. Look at those pretty glitters!
Now for the brushes...
F40 Large Angled Contour - I have been using this specific brush for years and was very excited to receive a new one with the special packaging. I’ve tried many blush brushes and I always come back to this one because its soft, fluffy bristles and angled design apply the perfect amount of colour and allow for seamless blending.
E15 Flat Definer - This is my first time trying a brush like this and I don’t know how I went so long without it. Its thin, flat edge allows for precise application of powder, cream, or gel products to the eye area. As someone who struggles with applying pencil liner, I always prefer to use a powder eyeshadow and a liner brush to define my eyes. This brush allows me to achieve natural definition, but it’s also very soft and gentle on my sensitive eye area.
E25 Blending - This brush is another old-favourite for me. It has been with me since my early days of blending and has helped me perfect my technique. The rounded tip allows for lots of control and the firm-yet-still-gentle bristles give well-blended results.
E55 Eye Shading - This is the basic brush that every makeup user needs in their collection. When I first started learning how to apply eye makeup properly, I ordered this brush. It’s similar in quality and function to the popular MAC 239 Eye Shader Brush, but it’s more affordable. It’s also very versatile with its dense bristles and slightly rounded edges that apply colour evenly. I use mine to pat colour onto the lid.
F35 Tapered Highlighter - This is one of those brushes that you don’t realize that you need until you have it. It’s very soft and can be used to apply highlighting powder on the cheekbones, forehead, nose, and inner corners of the eye. While I love the diffused glow that it creates while highlighting, my favourite way to use it is to apply setting powder over my under eye concealer. It applies the perfect amount and gets into the inner corner very easily. It’s also helpful for applying powder around the contours of the nose.
Overall, I’m very impressed with the Nightlife by Camila Coelho Brush Set with Glitter Handles. Sigma and Camila Coelho did a wonderful job of choosing which brushes to include and put together a versatile kit that will appeal to makeup lovers and makeup beginners. The dazzling packaging makes this set the perfect gift for someone who has everything or those who just like some extra sparkle. It’s also great for travelling as it contains the essentials.
