NOTD: OPI Bogota Blackberry (gel)

OPI Bogota Blackberry Gel 3

Around the winter holidays, I love wearing deeper shades of polish. This year, I have been so busy with baking and cleaning that I haven’t had much time to take care of my nails, so I went to the salon for a gel manicure.

I wrote my first post on gel manicures back in October when I reviewed OPI’s I Cannoli Wear OPI. To read more about my experiences with gel and why I prefer it to Shellac, click HERE.
As for the shade I’m wearing in the photo above, it’s OPI’s Bogota Blackberry, a beautiful deep berry shade. Since my camera seems to have trouble accurately capturing red-toned shades, the polish looks a bit lighter in the photo than it actually is. On my nails, it appears as a dark wine shade with a hint of shimmer that is not visible from a distance. I don’t wear shimmery polishes often, but the shimmer in this one is fairly subtle and the colour itself is so rich and flattering. It reminds me a lot of OPI’s Glove You So Much, a shade that I wear almost every holiday season. Compared to Glove You So Much, Bogota Blackberry is slightly more purple.

Since I’m very pale, the brighter red shades can often look harsh on me, so I tend to choose reds that are deeper with berry undertones. So far, I’m loving this shade and will be adding it to my list of OPI gel favourites.

Which nail shades do you like to wear around the holidays?
