Pastel Confetti Nail Art

 Julep Fifi and Yuki
Julep Fifi and Yuki 4

I created this fun nail look for spring using two of the polishes that came in the Julep Cupid’s Mystery Clutch. The pastel pink base is called Fifi and the heart confetti is called Yuki. I love how this look can be achieved without any special nail art tools. It was also very easy to create.

After painting on the base colour and letting it dry for a few minutes, I used the brush in the confetti polish to dab random bits of white and pink confetti onto the nail on my ring finger. Next, I used the brush to pick up a white confetti heart and place it in the centre of my nail. I finished the look with a layer of top coat. The look lasted a long time and I received many compliments on it. I think this nail design is very versatile—it’s office appropriate yet also a pretty look for a bride to wear on her
wedding day.

What do you think of this spring nail look?

Sally Hansen Real Nail Polish Strips in Are You Single? (Review + Photos)

Back on June 22 I made a haul post featuring these nail strips from Sally Hansen. In the post I said that I would likely save the strips for Valentine’s Day because the little leaves in the pink, purple, red, and silver pattern look like hearts.
I wore them to a special dinner a few days after Valentine’s Day. I didn’t have much time to do my nails and couldn’t wait for regular nail polish to dry. Then I remembered that I had these nail strips in Are You Single? and decided to try them out.
The strips were very easy to apply. I only encountered a bit of difficulty with trying to find the perfect size strip to fit my nail. I have very small nails and a lot of the strips were just a tiny bit too big so I had to trim them with scissors. They were easy to cut though and I did not ruin any strips during trimming process.
The best part about this product is that it truly sticks to the nails and lasts for two weeks. I left mine on for 14 days with only minimal chipping on my dominant hand after 8 days. I didn’t have to keep pushing down lifting edges and there were no air bubbles. The strips removed easily with regular nail polish remover.
Overall, I really enjoyed this product and would definitely purchase more if I find them on sale because these strips can be a bit pricey where I live.
Have you tried these nail strips from Sally Hansen? If so, what are your thoughts on them?

Valentine’s Day Cookies & Cream Rice Krispie Squares

With Valentine’s Day less than a week away, I wanted to create a very festive (yet very quick and easy) dessert. The result:  pink white chocolate coated, oreo filled, gooey marshmallowey Rice Krispie squares.

This dessert is a delicious twist on the regular Rice Krispie squares recipe, and it takes less than 30 minutes to make.

Recipe

Ingredients:
1/4 cup butter
6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
20 Oreo cookies
6 cups mini marshmallows
3/4 cup red chocolate wafers
2 tbsp heart-shaped sprinkles

Directions:
1. Spray a 9x13 inch pan with cooking spray.
2. Chop or break Oreos into small pieces. Pour the cookie pieces into a large bowl and add the Rice Krispies cereal. Stir to combine.
3. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add marshmallows.
4. Once marshmallows are melted, remove from heat and add in the cookie/cereal mixture. Mix well.
5. Press mixture into the 9x3 inch prepared pan.
6. Melt the red chocolate wafers in the microwave on low heat, stirring every 15 seconds until smooth.
7. Spread the melted chocolate over the Rice Krispie squares. Before the chocolate cools, pour the heart-shaped sprinkles on top.
