Review + Swatches: Sigma Beauty Loose Shimmer & Glitter

Sigma Beauty Loose Shimmer Glitter Review Bewitch Ethereal Ravishing Felicity Zeal 1

Let’s start the weekend with something sparkly!

Today I’m sharing my thoughts on the new Loose Shimmer and Loose Glitter products from Sigma Beauty.

Loose Shimmer and Loose Glitter are powder products that work as an eyeshadow, a facial highlight, or an extra pop of sheen when mixed with a lipgloss. When used minimally, these products provide a subtle, shimmery finish, and when worn full strength, they give a foil-like appearance. The shimmer is dimensional and loose to create an ethereal effect. There are currently six shades of Loose Glitter and fourteen shades of Loose Shimmer. I was lucky enough to try three Loose Shimmer products in shades of bronze, pink, and champagne, and two Loose Glitter products in iridescent shades that look white in the pan but reflect pinks and purples on the skin. It’s also important to note that these products are free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates, and casein.

Read on for my review and to see swatches of these beautiful pigments.

Review: Sigma Beauty Highlight Expert Brush Set

Sigma Beauty Highlight Expert Brush Set Review 2

I have a confession to make: I love makeup brushes, especially when they come in sets for performing specific beauty tasks. Over the years, I have collected quite a few brushes and brush kits, mainly from Sigma Beauty. If you are not familiar with Sigma, it’s a beauty brand that specializes in innovative makeup brushes, brush care, and cosmetics.

In 2016, I had the pleasure of reviewing the Nightlife By Camila Coelho Brush Set with its beautiful glitter handles inspired by the city lights from New York to Rio de Janeiro, and today, I’m sharing my thoughts on the Highlight Expert Brush Set*, which includes three uniquely engineered brushes designed to highlight the face. All three tools in this set work together to apply highlighter with the perfect strobe on high-points of the face from cheekbones to chin.

Read on to learn more about these must-have brushes for achieving highlight perfection.

Sigma Haul + Review: P82 and F84

Since I’ve been adding more cream-based makeup products to my collection, I thought it was time to purchase some new brushes from Sigma that would help me apply these products properly.

First is the P82 Precision Round brush. I ordered this brush to use for applying cream shadows since I don’t really like dipping my finger into the little pots of product—its unsanitary and messy. Since this brush is made with dense Synthetic Sigmax fibres, it applies cream shadow in the same way that a fingertip could. So far I am very impressed with it since it makes application so much cleaner, faster, and easier.

Next, I purchased the F84 Angled Kabuki for cream blush application. It actually caught my attention because I was having a very difficult time finding a brush to apply my Make Up For Ever Second Skin Cream Blush. This brush works perfectly and it keeps my fingers clean so that I don’t need to wash them before finishing the rest of my makeup. It has Synthetic Sigmax fibres as well which are dense and blend cream blush to a natural finish. The angled fibres make it easy to pick up the product from the flat pan.
Overall, I’m really enjoying both brushes and highly recommend them for cream product application.

Sigma Beauty Eye Shadow Guide

I really like this eye shadow guide created by Sigma Beauty. I never know which colours will suit me and it’s especially difficult to choose a colour when shopping online. The guide shows day and night recommendations but I’m the type of person who would wear the day recommendations at night too since I like to keep my shadows very light and natural. I think my day recommendations are very accurate based on what I like to wear, and I especially appreciate that the liner recommendation is not black since black liners look very harsh on me.

How do you feel about this guide’s recommendations for your eye colour?

Week in Review: Makeup Products

This week, the focus of my makeup was a combination of three eyeshadows. We got a slight break from the extreme heat so I thought that this was the perfect opportunity to experiment with my eye makeup.
Eyes
As always, I began this look by applying a thin layer of Urban Decay Primer Potion from lashline to just above the crease. My base colour was Shroom by MAC. I used my Sigma E55 Eye Shading brush to pat this shade all over the lid and under the browbone as a highlight. Then I added some depth to my crease by blending MAC’s Kid eyeshadow above Shroom with my  Sigma E40 Tapered Blending brush. Since it’s summer and I love to add an unexpected pop of colour to my eye looks during this time of year, I added a bit of Crystal eyeshadow from MAC to the outer corners of my eyes into the crease with my Sigma E70 Medium Angled Shading brush. Crystal looks a bit damaged in the photo below because I am not the best at depotting shadows (I will be purchasing pro pans only for now on). I finished off the eyes by curling my lashes with my Shiseido curler and swiping on a generous coat of Buxom Lash mascara from Bare Escentuals.

Lips
With more colour on my eyes, I opted for a sheer tint on my lips. First I applied a layer of Vanilla Softlips to add a smooth base and an SPF of 20. I then used Tarte’s Maracuja Divine Shine lipgloss in Achiote which gave my lips a coral-pink tint that complimented my cheek colour nicely.

Face
This week I was less than adventurous with my face makeup and used the same products that I have been using for most of the summer. I used my fingers to pat some product from Garnier’s Anti-Dark-Circle roller under my eyes, and then I applied Tarte’s Amazonian Clay blush on the apples of my cheeks with my Sigma F40 Large Angled Contour brush. To give a flawless finish and add a bit of glow, I used my Sigma F50 Duo Fibre brush to lightly sweep Benefit’s Sugarbomb face powder overtop the Tarte blush.

Two New Sigma Brushes (F88 & P88)

Today Sigma added two new brushes to its collection, the F88 Flat Angled Kabuki and the P88 Precision Flat Angled brush. The F88 brush blends foundation easily onto hard to reach areas of the face. The specially designed angle fits all areas of the face seamlessly. The F88 works especially well on the cheekbones and contours of the nose. The P88 brush is best used for precise application of concealer products. It works particularly well around the eyes and nose. Both brushes are engineered to provide an efficient and superior application of cream and liquid products.

Week in Review: Makeup Products

When it comes to makeup, I like to take a less-is-more approach, especially during the hot and humid summer months.  Last week I wore a makeup combination that made me look put together without using a lot of heavy products.
Eyes
Each day I began by applying Urban Decay Primer potion to keep my shadow from melting off in the heat. Next, I used my Sigma E55 Eye Shading brush to pat a bit of Pür Minerals Mineral Shadow in Vanilla Feldspar on my lids. I blended out any harsh lines with my Sigma E40 Tapered Blending brush. I chose this specific shadow because it is similar in colour to my skin tone and gives me that my-lids-but-better look while covering up any darkness, redness, or veins. I finished off the eyes by curling my lashes with my Shiseido curler and applying a generous coat of Buxom Lash mascara.

Lips
For lips I started off with a base of sun protection by applying my Vanilla Softlips with spf 20. Next, I added some colour with my Revlon Lip Butter in Berry Smoothie. For the past few months the lip butters have been drying out my lips a bit so I have been applying a moisturizing gloss on top. For this look, I used my Bare Minerals 100% Natural lip gloss in Heartcake. It complements the lip butter very well and, best of all, it smells like donuts!

Face
I kept my face makeup very minimal. My dark circles are more noticeable in the summer when the sun is shining so I used my fingers to pat some product from Garnier’s Anti-Dark-Circle roller under my eyes. I never use the roller directly on my skin because it applies too much product. I then applied Tarte’s Amazonian Clay blush on the apples of my cheeks with my Sigma F40 Large Angled Contour brush. To give a flawless finish and add a bit of glow, I used my Sigma F50 Duo Fibre brush to lightly sweep Benefit’s Sugarbomb face powder overtop the Tarte blush.

Let me know which products you wore last week! Also, would you like me to continue to do these makeup of the week posts????

Sigma Mr. Bunny Brush Kit First Impressions

After months of saving, I have finally been able to purchase the Mr. Bunny Essential Brush Kit from Sigma.

So far I am really enjoying the kit and feel that it was definitely worth the money. I have washed all the brushes with a gentle shampoo and have used a few of them so far. None of the brushes started to shed when I washed them which is a good sign and an indication that they are of high quality. For me, the best part is that they are cruelty free and SO soft! They also come with a sturdy case that doubles as brush holders.  I will do a full review of the kit once I use the brushes a bit more.

This photo is a glimpse of all the brushes together (the E65 brush is missing from this photo). See below for individual brush photos.
