Review: ColourPop Puppy Love Super Shock Eyeshadow
I don’t purchase eyeshadows very often, but I was drawn to this one from ColourPop due to its beautiful colour and charity connection.
As you may already know from reading my blog, I’m an animal lover. I donate to animal charities often and was so excited to find out that all proceeds from the sale of ColourPop’s Super Shock Eyeshadow in Puppy Love will be donated to Best Friends Animal Society to help make L.A. a no-kill city (NKLA). I think that this is a great initiative and a worthy cause to support.
This was my first ColourPop purchase, and I was very impressed with the transaction process. Since I’m in Canada, I was a bit hesitant to order this $5 eyeshadow since the shipping was $12.73. However, since I was a first time customer, I received a $5 discount code which helped. Shipping was also very quick. I received the shadow in about four business days. It was securely packaged and came with a thank-you card from ColourPop.
The eyeshadow itself comes in a little white pot with a lid that screws off. I prefer the kind of lids that remain attached and flip up (since my cats always try to steal lids when I’m doing my makeup) but I don’t mind since the packaging is cute with its special holographic paw print.
Aside from purchasing this eyeshadow to support the charity, I was also drawn to the colour. It looks like many of the other eyeshadows that I wear (light, peachy-pink, champagne, pearly, etc.) but this one also has a pretty light gold duochrome that really brightens the eyes. I like to wear this shade all over the lid with lots of mascara for a fresh and awake look.
The formula is very interesting. It seems like a cream-to-powder-product but it’s not wet or sticky like a typical cream. It just feels very silky. It glides over the eyelid seamlessly and I haven’t had any issues with creasing even when I wear it without a primer. I like to apply it with my finger for a smooth, natural look.
Overall, I really love this shadow and would not hesitate to purchase from ColourPop in the future. I hope that they come out with more products that support animal charities. Unfortunately, the last day to purchase Puppy Love was on March 13. Maybe if we are lucky it will come back in stock sometime.
